That is just hilarious. I once had someone refer to Twitter is "that thing about the birds." It's a brave new world for a lot of folks... ; )

Great feedback Janet. I read your blog at the time you posted, and have since followed comments. I should have paraphrased you "Your exposure to technology defines how tech savvy you are, not your age."!

I wrote a blog post, a report, and did a webcast on multi-generational learning and the impact on instructional design. A deep dive into the research debunks the whole idea of the digital native/digital immigrant idea. I've got a ton of references on the blog post. I recommend reading these two very recent publications. And, of course <a href="http://brandon-hall.com/janetclarey/?p=1219"</a>the blog post with slides.

Emma, great point you're making here. Too often we learning professionals create great artifacts and then use them only once. Why not use the great content in those artifacts and deploy it in different ways (i.e. in a content management site, in targeted performance support, on mobile devices, in job aids, etc.)?

I actually love the RoboForm software myself. I use it all of the time and it takes all of the menial everyday tasks that I have to perform on my computer daily and shortens them extremely! What once took me fifteen minutes to complete now takes me only one second because RoboForm does the same task with just one click. In fact I wrote a Report about a lot of RoboForm’s capabilities for use that aren’t even touched on in the User’s Manual for RoboForm. You can get that Report here:

http://www.theroboformreport.com

There is also a FREE version of RoboForm that you can download on this web page, just to test the RoboForm software out for yourself! I highly recommend it!

This is a very useful tool. I create performance support content for various companies and applications using SHO Guide. SHO Guide allows me to customize the colors of the call-out balloons in the step-by-step guidance. The color picker helps me immediately identify the colors in a web site or application so I can just enter those colors in SHO Guide and the colors match perfectly.

Thanks Emma for the great tips!

Hi Em,
Congratulations on you daughter !!

I know what you mean about not being able to reduce the list. I carry even more around with me that that. My list includes pretty much what's on yours, plus I also carry a freeview adapter, for those hotels that only have bog-standard terrestrial TV. And I also have some network and USB cables, just in case. I also have a 4-port USB adapter and power lead. And a webcam.

And I sometimes take a tempurpedic pillow if I know the hotel won't have anything decent - although I realise that's not practical on flights (most of my travelling is by car). Then I also take slippers (gotta have the home comforts!!), but that's not very technological.

So keeping your list to seven items is good going!!

Take care
